Sri Lanka Cultural Tours »


With over 2500 years of rich history, Sri Lanka has bundle of history to tell you. Sri Lanka cultural tours include visiting cultural triangle which are Kandy, Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa and also visiting Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Dambulla Cave Temple. These tours plus Galle and Jaffna forts tells great story of “heritage of Sri Lanka”.



  Gogo Lanka Cultural Tours pic_01   At arrival in Sri Lanka, our Gogo Lanka representative will be at the airport to greet you. From the Air Port we head to the hotel where you will be staying over night preparing for the exciting journey.

Early morning we pack our bags and head towards Dambulla. It is a 2hour 30minute drive from our hotel. Dambulla is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Dambulla Rock temple is the main attraction of Dambulla. That is the first place that we are going to see. Dambulla Rock Temple was built by King Valagamba in 1st Century BC, as a gratitude to the Monks in Dambulla for providing refuge to its 14 years exile from Anuradhapura. This magnificent Dambulla Cave Temple has 48 Buddha Statues.

From there we head towards Anuradhapura.

Anuradhapura is a 1hour 10minute drive from Dambulla and it is the first capital of Sri Lanka. Anuradhapura has been the capital of Sri Lanka from the 4th century BC, until the beginning of the 11th century AD. It was the Royal Kingdom for 119 kings before it was abandon the capital moved to Polonnaruwa.

After some sightseeing in Anuradhapura, we will check into the hotel.

Today, we get up and head towards Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa is a 1hour 50minute journey from Anuradhapura. Polonnaruwa was the second capital of Sri Lanka. Polonnaruwa was selected as the capital because it gave time to organize defenses in times of foreign invasion. The Hero of the Polonnaruwa era was King Parakrambahu 1. Polonnaruwa was abandon in 14th Century and moved to Dambadeniya.

From Polonnaruwa we drive towards Sigiriya, which is a drive of 1hour. Sigiriya was built in to a fortress by King Kashypa in 477-495 AD. A Palace built on a Rock. The summit of the Sigiriya rock is almost 200M and it is surrounded by jungle. The entrance of the rock was transformed to resemble a lion by the addition of bricks. Its arts and mirror wall, engineering of the water gardens will amaze you.

Additionally, Sigiriya is also the stop over for the day.

Now we are heading towards Kandy. Kandy is a 1hour 30minute drive. Kandy is the last Capital of ancient Sri Lanka’s Kingdom era. Dalada Maligawa temple in Kandy houses the most sacred Buddhist relic, the Tooth of Lord Buddha. It is the most prominent city outside of Colombo and also known as the Hill Capital of Sri Lanka and is the center for Buddhism and Culture.

After the visit to the Dalada Maligawa, you have the day for yourselves to explore the city at your own pace. In the evening we will check in at our hotel.

As our tour comes to an end we head towards Colombo. After the 3 hour journey, you would be able to go to the Airport or head towards Colombo.
